  • Another loss

    100_3676

Our sweet Spencer had to be put to sleep today.  He was 11 years old--much to young to have to lose him!  He got sick the day Baby died and was in the hospital for a week.  He came home for a week and didn't do well.  The vet said she thought it was a neurogenic bladder.  He couldn't pass his urine and with all the things that were done for him it didn't help.  The medicine apparently worked for a few days then quit working.  He was a very loving cat and will be greatly missed at our house.

  • A very busy week

      Baby

We lost our sweet cat, Baby, on Tuesday after a long illness.  She was 14 years old.  She was always loving and very lively right to the end.  If the cats were eating canned food no one approached the dish Baby was eating from clear up to a couple of days before she died!  She loved to go to the vet and was hard to keep out of the pet taxi when it was someone else's turn to go!  She will be greatly missed.

On Monday we aquired a new friend for Penelope!  His name is Omar and he is a Toy Fox Terrier.  He is very sweet and he and Penelope play constantly.  He is a great addition to our family.  He is a young dog, about a year old.  We are really enjoying him.

On Thursday we got a new car!  It is  2005 PT Cruiser.  It was a show car and is loaded with extras.  The man that had it was in the local PT Cruiser club.  I have wanted one since they came out and am very happy we could get such a nice one.  It has been taken such good care of that it is just like brand new.  It only has 23,000 miles on it, too!  I can't wait to get it out on the high-way for a good road trip.

  • Health Care Costs

I got my hospital statement today for Feb. 2nd & 3rd.  The total bill?  $107, 063.38!!!!!  That is in addition to the $55,000 plus bill from before!  I would certainly hate to have something really major done, like open heart surgery.  I don't even want to think of it.  All I have to pay is $1996.70.  I love my insurance company!

I am getting along well and walk at least 35 minutes a day.  Penelope knows when we are going because I get out my walking shoes.  She gets real excited and tries to hurry me up.  She gets to go to the park first so she can get her sniffing done and we can get down to the actual walk.  She gets to lead the way to the park and in the park.  Then she has to heel for our 'business' walk on the sidewalk.  She is always really good on the 'business' walk and only tries to sniff if we come across a sidewalk that has grass or weeds over part of it.  I am glad it has stayed cool this year.  When it gets hot I will have to get up with the sun so we won't have to cancel our walks.  Then it will have to be nap time before I can go to work.  Hope everyone out there in cyber space is doing fine.  Later

  • Update in the critter world

Thought everyone might like to see how much Penelope has grown since we got her!  She is really something!  She absolutely LIVES for her daily walk in the neightborhood and insists on attention constantly.  She loves to get new toys and has quite a collection now.  Yesterday she got a new bed.  She scratched on the door of her kennel so I would open it and she could check out her bed a second time after I put it in there.  (I have to leave the door shut when she isn't there because the cats take it over.  One night I accidently put her in there WITH a cat and didn't find out till the next morning when Deputy Moto Photo got her out)!  As you can see in the top photo, she has discovered the fountain and likes to get a drink!  Life is sure a lot more fun with a puppy around.  Later

  • Spring has sprung!!!!

    PICT0034 PICT0016 PICT0027

And what a lovely spring day it is, too!  I've had a wonderful time watching about 100 birds at our bird feeder this morning (and they are still here now).  Deputy Moto Photo took these pics and several more this morning.  This is the kind of snow I always wish for for Christmas.  I did go around singing "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" today.  I do feel sorry for our one little lonely Tulip that bloomed a couple of days ago.  It is the first year it has bloomed out of about five years it has been in the ground, and then it gets frozen!  I hope this hasn't ruined any chance of it blooming again next year.

In other news, if you haven't already heard, I think the test on my carotid arteries came back fine.  My doctor never called me back, the tech said it didn't look bad to her, and I couldn't see any diminished blood flow on the monitor.  I am hoping that is the end of all this nasty business.

Everyone take care and enjoy this lovely weather.  I have to work today so I guess I'd better think about how I am going to dislodge the car so I can get there.  Later
